With A Promise wins 2017 Garrard’s Horse Silk Stocking Listed $150,000 at Gold Coast (QLD) Fillies & Mares, 1200m.
The only three-year-old in the field, With A Promise caused a boil over with a narrow but exciting win here. Under Josh Oliver and from barrier ten she began quite well yet took 200m to gain the lead. She led into the straight and was immediately challenged wider out but never gave way the length of the straight to kick again just short of the line for a narrow but game win.
Nancy was third last at the 800m, equal last before they straightened, got the spit at the 200m and flashed home, just failing to overhaul the winner in a great line up for the minors.
Elegant Composure ranged up to the winner turning in, co-led and stayed on very well to lose second in the last stride from Bidii Babe who challenged at the 200m then held on for a close up fourth.
