Morphettville Parks Races Review - 27th May 2017

The promising two year old filly Counterplay made it two wins form two starts in the opening event of 1000 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

Being under the care of Phillip Stokes and guided to victory by Ben Claridge Counterplay was well back in the early stages but came with a strong run over the last 200 metres to register a convincing win.

Jamie Kah brought up her 100th winner in South Australia for the season when she rode Lethal Bond to a win in the 1550 metre second race.

Trained at Angaston by Tony McEvoy and bringing up his second successive win Lethal Bond was well placed.

After winning a provincial apprentices series during the week Raquel Clark joined forces with the co-training partnership of Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas when So You Too won the 1300 metre third race.

After running two disappointing ninths General Custer brought up win number six in the 1950 metre fourth race.

Prepared at Caulfield by Andrew Noblett who had Jason Holder ride the gelding General Custer came from well back with a well timed run over the concluding stages.

Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas lifted their city total of winners to thirty seven when Counter Pulse brought up a double for them in race five which was run over 1250 metres.

Steered by Clare Lindop the consistent Counter Pulse led all the way to win his fourth race this time in.

Having its third start after a spell One More Daisy gave trainers Wayne Francis and Glen Kent a victory in the 1000 metre sixth event.

Piloted to victory by apprentice Sairyn Fawke and taking a wide berth on the home turn One More Daisy came away to win stylishly.

Galaxy Gazer returned to form and gave the training partnership of Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas their third success for the day in the 1250 metre seventh event.

Bringing up a double for Clare Lindop, Galaxy Gazer came from a worse than midfield position with a strong run to bring up its fifth win from twenty-two starts.

Trainer Tony McEvoy brought up his second success for the day when his charge Municipality took out the 1400 metre final event.

Guided to victory by McEvoy’s number one stable jockey Damien Thornton Municipality came from a better than midfield position to win by a narrow margin.
