Prom Queen wins 2017 Breeders Stks Group 3 NZ $70,000 at Ruakaka (NZ), 1200m.
Prom Queen is putting together an impressive record and has now recorded seven wins in eight career starts, with this one sewn up soon after turning for home. She began best from barrier four but was denied the lead so sat one out, a half length back down the back and around the bend just short of the straight. Into the straight, Alysha Collett released the brakes and the filly took over, put two lengths on them at the 200m and surged clear to win as she liked by two and a half lengths.
Aim Smart was fourth (rails) around the corner, pulled out to challenge at the 250m, but was no match for the winner.
Felton Road was last into the straight, pulled out to the centre of the track and ran on without chance for third. Global Thinking tried to go with the winner turning for home but could only plug into fourth.
