Fuhryk wins 2017 Alinghi Stakes Listed $120,000 at Caulfield (VIC), 1100m.
Lindsay Park-trained mare Fuhryk, who was having her third run this preparation, put up a good effort in winning here. She settled in fifth place on the rails from her good barrier (2), behind a good pace, went through to third at the home turn, dashed to the front at the 200m and then drew away to win easily.
Lyuba raced in sixth place, one of the rails, improved (deep) at the home turn and then sprinted well to challenge at the 100m and then fought on well for a good second.
The favourite Nieta had a good trip in fourth place, improved nicely at the home turn, briefly looked a threat at the 200m and then battled on for third after appearing to have had every chance.
