Dainty Tess wins 2017 Prince Of Wales Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Ascot (WA), 1000m.
Highly consistent mare Dainty Tess took her record to ten wins and 13 placings from 26 starts in taking out her first Group success here. She settled back in fifth place, behind a strong pace set by the leader (Potent Secret). She went deeper (under riding) on turning for home and responded really well to come with a strong finish in the closing stages to grab a good victory.
Profit Street raced back in sixth place, before improving well along the rails rounding the home turn. He got through on the inner to hit the front at the 100m, only to be caught on the post for second in a good first up effort.
Dream Lifter raced back in fourth place, moved up on straightening, challenged at the 200m and battled well for a close up third in a sound first up run.
