Lyuba wins 2017 Skip Sprint Group 3 $200,000 at Flemington (VIC), 1100m.
The bridesmaid in six of her last ten starts, Lyuba was finally rewarded with this her maiden black-type win and sixth overall. She jumped well from barrier eight but was restrained early.
At the crossing jockey Damian Lane parked her in sixth (outside) with a clear view ofthe leader and didn't give her a shake until inside the 300m where she accelerated to co-lead inside the 200m. Lane kept her going and she responded well to hold on by a head in a tight finish.
Savanna Amour was third last at the crossing, held up slightly at the 300m then saw space and went after the leaders, doing her best work at the finish but coming up a shade short yet a good second from Concealer, who cruised up to lead at the 200m and looked the winner inside the 100m only to be run down very late, another head away.
Nieta tried to get on terms with the lead past the 200m and fought on well for fourth, with not much between the first four home.
