Race1: Out Of Square
In the first of the day we saw another promising type step out on debut for the smart juvenile R & C Jolly stable in Out Of Square. Far less fancied by the market than her stablemate Isla's Fury, this three-year-old Hellbent filly jumped on terms with the rest of them but was taken straight back from the outside alley to settle at the tail. Out of sight when turning for home, Jacob Opperman hooked his mount to the extremity to let down with her run and boy, didn't she impress. Letting rip down the outside, Out Of Square rounded up most of rivals to flash home into third, posting the sharpest closing 600m on the card (33.38secs) in the process. The way she was able to lengthen was that of a horse with plenty of ability. Doubt it'll take much longer for her to get off the mark.
