Promising apprentice Shaun Guymer will have three rides at Rosehill tomorrow with each considered to be strong winning chances in their respective events.

Guymer has earmarked the Joseph Pride trained So So Sure as his best ride of the day at the metropolitan meeting.

The gelding will contest a Benchmark 80 Handicap (1500m) and has been quoted as the $4.60 favourite with TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds.

The five-year-old will step up 100m in distance after his latest effort at Warwick Farm when he finished second by a half head behind Chris Waller-trained Thumbtacks.

“I thought his last run when I rode him was quite good but unfortunately it was just a bob of the head and we ended up falling short,” Guymer said.

“He has been amongst the money lately and I think Joe has done the right thing with putting him up in trip, and also putting the winkers on him too which will hopefully do him plenty of favours.

“If we can't get it tomorrow, we'll be banging our heads against the wall.”

The talented hoop will also jump aboard the Peter Snowden-trained Parthian who is the current $3.80 early market favourite for the Open Handicap (1400m).

It will be the second time Guymer has ridden the five-year-old, with the first coming three starts back when the gelding was resuming against easier company at Wyong.

“I got on his back a few starts ago at Wyong where he rode a really nice race,” said Guymer.

“He looks to be placed here really well and he gets the 3kg claim from being the second top weight which I think is just going to be perfect for him.

“I'm expecting him to have a nice run. He's starting from barrier two and hopefully things will go his way and we'll be there amongst the money at the end.”

Guymer's third runner is the four-year-old Sienna Red ($6.00) who will contest a Benchmark 75 Handicap (1300m).

The mare is trained by Pride, and despite Guymer being an apprentice under the Warwick Farm based trainer, he is yet to ride the four-year-old.

“I haven't even ridden her in track work yet. I'd imagine that I will be able to get a good feel for her when I get to the gates though,” he said.

“It's always a little bit of a question mark when you haven't ridden them before but I should learn a lot from seeing videos of the horse racing.

“I'd imagine it will be a pretty straight forward drive, but it seems that she might need a bit of rain as well.

“She's a bit of a wet-tracker so it might be a little bit too firm over there at Rosehill, but we can only do our best with her.”

The reigning Canberra Apprentice Jockey Premiership winner said that he has been enjoying his time working under Pride after finishing up with Kevin Moses earlier this month.

“I've been there now for about a week-and-a-half and everything is just going so smooth which is really good. I'm just grateful for Joe to give me this opportunity,” he said.
