Chris Waller giant killer Foreteller is after another major scalp in today's Group 1 Caulfield Stakes, with a huge prize up for grabs.
Foreteller is looking to upstage glamour mare Atlantic Jewel, and if he's successful Waller will reward the gutsy galloper with a start in the Cox Plate.
“If he wins he goes to the Cox Plate, if he runs down the track but runs well enough the MacKinnon's his right race,” Waller said.
“He's well. Obviously Atlantic Jewel's the one to beat she's a superstar, we'll just see how the race unfolds and see if she is a true 2000m horse.”
Foreteller set himself up for a big Melbourne spring when upstaging Puissance De Lune in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last month.
It was his second major scalp in six months after beating Fiveandahalfstar in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill in the autumn.
Atlantic Jewel is the raging odds-on favourite for this afternoon's Caulfield Stakes and has just four opponents including Foreteller, after yesterday's withdrawal of Green Moon.
Waller said a medium tempo would suit his horse perfectly.
“I wouldn't say slow tempo because it makes it impossible to get past a horse like Atlantic Jewel,” Waller said.
“A medium tempo [would be ideal] where it's a fairly solidly run 2000 but not a true staying test.
“That's what brought him undone in the Australian Cup he was chasing a long way out.”
Waller kicked off his day in style at Randwick with Multilateral holding out Entirely Platinum to win the Adina Apartment Hotels Benchmark 85 Handicap (2000m).
Stablemates Marden and Mulaqen finished third and fourth respectively.
