COLLINGWOOD v FREMANTLE

Saturday 15 July @ MCG

It is not hard to work out this game so let's not spend that much time on it.

Fremantle played Finals last year and yet they are playing so incredibly badly by comparison. Collingwood played Finals last year and are playing so incredibly fantastic.

It is so hard not to like Collingwood's game which goes against the fibre of any non-Magpie footy fan. They have a sturdy, dependable defence, a sustainable if not tall forward line and a rollicking midfield that has so many options.

Last year Nick Daicos was barely held but playing off half back where many younger players get confidence from attaining touches.

In 2023 he evolved into a beast in the middle but that beast also has such silky skills to get him out of any problems. Then add on the goals kicked – he's odds on for the Brownlow and unless he's injured or whacks someone, he's winning it.

They were clinical after half time against the Dogs flicking the switch. They went on a long run of goals and held on late.

Any normal form of good play will beat Fremantle on what they dished up against Carlton. It was woeful from the start. 2 goals to ¾ time is not acceptable at home if you pretend to be a Finals side.

Nothing really forward of the ball could get a real look as Amiss and others were just that – amiss.

Don't get seduced by Fremantle's MCG record which is actually rather decent for an interstate side. From their last 15 they've managed to win 8. It's not so great against the Pies.

So even if not thinking it will be a thrashing, Collingwood can just go through the motions and win. Injuries and management affect both sides here. Take the Unders because you'd doubt either side will be on.

Match Selection: Collingwood by 26 points

Suggested Bets: Total Points Under 156.5 @ $1.89 with bet365 *
