Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2024 AFL Season.
We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.
ST KILDA v SYDNEY
Sunday 7 July @ Marvel Stadium
The grand total of points these two lost by last weekend was 3 points and neither will be happy.
The Saints once more could barely hit the scoreboard. Any freedom they enjoyed, even in defeat in Brisbane, was taken from them in a dour festival under the roof.
Anyone kicking straight would have blown it wide open. Their half back line always racks up the possessions but there isn't enough linking to the forwards.
No wonder Max King couldn't get any consistency. The day he does eventually he'll nail a bag. That could have been this weekend but alas now not.
Will the Swans allow any of that as a chance for the remaining? They have not been atop their game really for a little while and the slow starts finally caught up with them.
They utterly deserved to lose given some of the efforts and lack of skill on show. It was nothing like they played all year at their best.
Gulden, Warner and Heeney were at best held and at worst ordinary. You can bet Longmire will be using that as a huge tool come the bigger games. He may even use it this weekend.
Match | St Kilda | Sydney | Ground |
Last time they met | 12.8 [80] | 9.12 [66] | SCG |
Last 10 matches | 3 wins | 7 wins
Notes | Syd has won 5 of the last 6 between them at Marvel
Since 2001, St Kilda has only scored 100+ points 5 times in these matches and won them all |
Often sides who are assured lose one or two coming into the end of the season. Collingwood did just that. Surely there is enough firepower for a Sydney win of some kind.
Match Selection: Sydney by 27 points
Suggested Bets: Sydney -23.5 @ $1.91 @ bet365
