Jonathan Batty's three-year tenure as Melbourne Stars WBBL coach is over after the club's wooden-spoon season.
Melbourne Stars coach Jonathan Batty has paid the price for the club's WBBL wooden spoon, told this summer would be his last in charge of the club.
The Stars confirmed on Monday afternoon that Batty's tenure at the club was over, following three seasons where the Stars failed to make the finals.
Runners-up under Trent Woodhill in 2020, Batty took over in 2022 and took the Stars to sixth and seventh in his first two years before this season's wooden spoon.
"We'd like to thank Jonathan and his commitment to the Stars over the last 3 years," Melbourne Stars general manager Blair Crouch said in a statement.
"We feel like the list is in a position to achieve success and ultimately, we have again fallen short of making the WBBL finals."
The Stars won two of their first three matches this campaign, before registering six straight losses and having their last match against Adelaide washed out on Sunday.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with a wonderful group of people and I'd like to wish the players and the club the very best for the future," Batty said.
