Timeform - Three Horses To Follow

3 minute read

Timeform highlight three horses to follow in the coming weeks off promising recent performances.

Ciarlet, a close relation to Zoustar, is one to follow. Picture: Racing and Sports

My Bantry Bay - Flemington, Saturday 7th May

My Bantry Bay probably went backwards from the promising first up run in the eyes of most when safely held at bay in a race that we could hardly call high rating at Flemington. He's well worth sticking with, however, as the wind appears to have played a significant role at Flemington with those that led into the circle - Rib Eye (2-1), My Bantry Bay (11-4), Prestwick (13-4), High Church (4-1), Here To There (9-1) and Choux Diva (20-1) - all well beaten and below form. It can pay to be very forgiving of those runners and suspicious of a few of the winners.

Sir Bacchus - Rosehill, Saturday 7th May

Sir Bacchus finished last campaign with a Timeform rating of 101 and as a horse of some promise and he's quickly delivering on that promise this time in, running 103 and 109 in two wins from as many starts. There is a big 'P' attached to that 109 with Sir Bacchus quickening smartly to win a truly run race at Rosehill with the form having a rock solid look about it. The Brisbane Carnival awaits and he should make an impact up north.

Ciarlet - Gosford, Thursday 5th May

In the May of his three-year-old season Zoustar had already been packaged off to stud. A couple of years on and his sister Ciarlet is only just getting started, shedding her maiden tag at Gosford in a fairly nondescript maiden. She beat nothing but she beat them in style, running clear best figures for the day and returning a Timeform rating of 85+. That's something she should be able to build on fairly quickly and that should see her winning more races.
