Group 1 winning son of Savabeel will stand alongside US Navy Flag and Rock de Cambes
Group 1 winner The Chosen One (Savabeel) will stand alongside US Navy Flag and Rock de Cambes at The Oaks Stud this spring. The son of Savabeel (Zabeel) will stand for NZS$4,000 (plus GST), with breeding rights available for NZ$10,000 (plus GST).
"We're really excited to be standing The Chosen One this season," The Oaks Stud General Manager Rick Williams said.
"He has all the credentials to be a success at stud, he's a Group One winner over a mile and multiple group race winner on both sides of the Tasman and he's very well bred."
Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, The Chosen One won seven times and placed in another 11 of his 43 career starts with his Group 1 victory coming in the Thorndon Mile (1600m) at Trentham last January. He also won the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield in October 2019. He ran to a peak Timeform rating of 118 on two occasions, when he finished third in the Group 1 Tancred Stakes in March last year and second in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes in October 2021.
He retired from racing having won of $2.7 million and was crowned Champion New Zealand Sayer on three occasions.
The Chosen One is out of winning and Group placed mare The Glitzy One (Flying Spur). His second dam is the champion New Zealand three-year-old The Jewel (O'Reilly), who went on to produce two stakes winners among five winners and is a half-sister to the dam of Group 1 winner La Diosia (So You Think).
