The Mark Newnham-trained Diamond Tathagata looks a promising colt, following his second to She Will Reign (Manhattan Rain) in the Inglis Nursery (RL, 1000m) on 17 December with a Group Two victory here. He was smartly away but was caught deep, sharing the lead but was under riding on straightening. He was second at the 200m but lifted gamely in the closing stages to grab a narrow but impressive win, handling the Heavy8 conditions well.

Godolphin’s Coruscate shared the lead (one off the rails), took a clear break at the 200m and looked the winner, only to be overhauled in the closing stages for a close second.

Single Bullet raced widest of four sharing the lead, went to third at the 200m and kept fighting well to hold that position while Eden Roc had a nice trip behind the leading group and battled on well along the rails for (1.1 lengths) fourth.
