Racecourse : Taree Wingham (Australia)
Racecourse : Taree Wingham (Australia)

Taree’s Bushland Drive racecourse is the home of the Taree Wingham Race Club and is one of the major racing centres on the NSW mid north coast. Located 340km north of Sydney, Taree racecourse is one of most picturesque in NSW and provides outstanding facilities for a big population base of almost 50,000 people living in the Manning River Valley. Taree Wingham Race Club hosts 20 meetings annually and the Bushland Drive racecourse is also used by the Krambach Race Club for its annual meetings. The highlight of the racing year at Taree is the Taree Cup carnival held over two days in August. A major training centre, Taree draws many horses from the north coast, Newcastle and the central coast provincial tracks of Wyong and Gosford to its race meetings.

The Taree racecourse is triangular in shape with a tight circumference of 1530 metres that places racegoers within close proximity of the racing action from excellent grandstand and viewing areas. The course has a home straight of 350 metres and starting chutes for races over 900m, 1000m, 1400m, 1600m and 2000m. The track is level with good runs to all turns. History shows that horses holding a forward position are at an advantage. A kikuyu grass covering on a sandy base makes the Bushland Drive course one of the best wet weather tracks in country NSW. The extensive facilities at Taree’s Bushland drive racecourse include the Winning Post Function Centre that can cater for up to 400 people plus the air conditioned Corey Brown Pavilion and Cooplacurripa Bar and Dining Area.
