Gatton racecourse is the home of the Lockyer Race Club and conducts 12 midweek race meetings a year.Gatton racecourse is located in the Lockyer Valley on the Warrego Highway 90km west of Brisbane and 40km from Toowoomba. Racing began at Gatton’s Burgess Park racecourse over 100 years ago in a region that is surrounded by the Great Dividing Range and recognised as one of the seven most fertile areas in the world.
The circumference of the Gatton racecourse is 1700 metres with a 300 metres home straight. The course is an oval with its turning shape favouring horses drawn close to the inside.Races are conducted over distances from 1085m to 1985m with a chute providing for races over 1585m.
