The Victoria Derby remains the target but a start in the Melbourne Cup is off the agenda for Forgot You.
The dream of Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young having their Victoria Derby aspirant Forgot You run in the Melbourne Cup is over.
Although Forgot You had undertaken the standing CT scan and given the all-clear, he requires another one before Thursday if he was to start in the Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 2.
Forgot You's spring target has been the Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on Saturday, and by running, and winning the Drummond Vase (2040m) at The Valley last Saturday, another trip to Werribee was required to fulfill Racing Victoria's requirement for a Cup start.
But Busuttin and Young were not prepared to float the colt to Werribee to undertake x-rays with the Standing CT Scanner currently out of action.
Forgot You would have been the first three-year-old to run in the Cup since Arena in 1998.
"We got him CT scanned last Monday and he come up perfect, but because he's going to run twice, we were going to have to have him CT scanned again," Busuttin told RSN.
"And that's broken, so he was going to have the x-rays.
"It means we have to put him on a float and go over to Werribee and have the x-rays done over there and we're not willing to interrupt the week.
"It is disappointing from our aspect, and I understand Racing Victoria's position and what is at stake with the race, but we could have had the x-rays done in our stable, under Racing Victoria supervision with their vets and the stewards.
"We'd rather leave him in his box rather than have the five-hour ordeal of going over there and back to have the x-rays whereas if he could have had them in the stable, it would have taken an hour and the dream might have lived on."
Busuttin and Young will have dual representation in Saturday's Derby with Forgot You, to be ridden by Daniel Moor, drawing eight while Commander Harry, with Linda Meech riding again, has gate 15.
Both Moor and Meech start careless riding suspensions after Saturday's Derby Day meeting.
