Baltic to Coast to Taree success

The penultimate race at Taree is the 1405m Hopkins Livermore Cup, an open handicap contest set to take place on a heavy 10 surface.

Brett Bellamy's Baglioni is expected to start favourite here, having returned from nearly a year off the track with a length fourth over 1200m at Coffs Harbour earlier this month.

The gelding raced on a soft 6 track on that occasion and he bids for his first victory since a $31 success in a 1300m Benchmark 66 handicap at Coffs Harbour in June last year.

The seven-year-old has placed at metro level in the interim, however he looks opposable here, with preference for BALTIC COAST.

The son of New Approach demonstrated decent placed form earlier this year, including when third in a Class 5 set weights contest over 1400m at Newcastle at the start of April.

While the gelding was outclassed in the Polytrack Provincial-Midway Championships Final at Randwick subsequently, he finished runner-up at Canterbury following that run.

Kris Lees' representative was spelled following a below-par last of 13, having started awkwardly in a 1700m Benchmark 78 handicap at Scone in May and he makes his return to action here.

The 5.00 selection boasts a strong first-up record, having won once and finished second three times from his four first-up starts and he is taken to salute under apprentice Benjamin Osmond.

Green to resume with a win

They race on the synthetic track at Ballarat, with the fourth contest of the day a 1400m set weights maiden contest for fillies and mares.

Forever More is expected to have her supporters, having registered a number of solid efforts in maiden company.

The most recent of those efforts saw her beaten just over six lengths when finishing fourth in an 1100m maiden at Echuca last month.

The four-year-old was returning from a spell that day and she has shaped as if the step up in distance she gets here would suit in a number of her previous outings.

However, she tackles the twice-raced KENSAL GREEN, who is preferred on this occasion having been spelled since finishing lame at Bendigo in June last year.

The selection was beaten just over 18 lengths, having also reportedly failed to handle the heavy 8 going on that occasion.

The five-year-old is better judged on her debut effort the previous month which saw her finish one-and-a-half-lengths fourth in a maiden over 1500m at this venue.

The 2.70 Churchill mare has recorded a number of good efforts in jumpouts since her Bendigo defeat, including when successful over 850m at this venue on 26th July.

The pick represents the in-form Tony & Calvin McEvoy team and, returning to the synthetic track here, she is taken to salute for the team who boast a 43% strike-rate (6/14) in the last 30 days.

Radstar ready for Ballarat glory

The following race at Ballarat is a 1400m Benchmark 58 handicap with RADSTAR selected to register her second win this prep.

The six-year-old demonstrated good form on turf at this venue earlier this prep, finishing in the top three in five consecutive starts prior to a fifth over 1400m here in June.

The switch to the synthetic surface here saw her break through for her first victory when racing from the front prior to delivering a success in a 1500m maiden early last month.

The 4.00 selection went on to prove that she can be competitive against winners when third in a similar race to this over the same course and distance two weeks ago.

Barrier nine shouldn't pose any issues for Thomas Carberry's tactically versatile mare, who is taken to record her second win at this venue.
