Boss looks good for Wyong win

The finale at Wyong is a 1000m Benchmark 64 handicap set to take place on a soft 5 surface.

Paul Perry saddles Cosy Corner here, with the filly expected to have her supporters having demonstrated good form so far this season.

The daughter of Cable Bay's sole victory came when saluting over 1200m in a Gosford maiden held on a good 4 track in November.

The three-year-old placed at the same track on her next two starts prior to a fifth in the 1200m Listed Gosford Guineas on a good 4 track in December.

The filly resumed with a solid third when attempting to make all in an 1100m Benchmark 64 handicap on a heavy 8 track back at Gosford on May 16th.

The drop in distance is expected to suit the youngster, however, BOSS is preferred on this occasion.

The gelding recorded an impressive two-length success when racing at Benchmark 72 level at Warwick Farm in July last year. He raced on a soft 5 track that day and similar underfoot conditions are expected for this contest.

While the 7.50 pick has been unable to win since, he had excuses on his final start last prep having started awkwardly and returned with lacerations.

The five-year-old was beaten less than one-and-a-half-lengths when seventh in a Benchmark 64 handicap at Hawkesbury when resuming at the end of last month.

The winner that day has gone in again since, while the son of Dawn Approach boasts an impressive 66% strike-rate (2/3) when racing second up.

While Adam Duggan's representative has raced prominently in the past he ran with more restraint at Hawkesbury and is taken to overcome barrier eight to score here.

Power to deliver Northam double

They race in Western Australia at Northam, with the sixth event an 1100m Class 5 handicap set to take place on a soft 5 track.

Mocha Dream is expected to jump as favourite for the Adam Durrant team, dropping down from metro level following two starts at Belmont.

Both of those efforts came over 1200m, including when beaten less than three lengths into sixth on a soft 5 track earlier this month.

The gelding was ridden from off the pace that day, with similar tactics expected as he chases his second win this prep having saluted over 1120m at Geraldton last month.

MILITARY POWER is something of a course specialist having won four of his six starts at this venue and he is the pick on this occasion.

Three of those victories came in 2023, including when completing a Class 3 1000m double when scoring by half-a-length in August.

The four-year-old raced prominently on that occasion and recorded his most recent course win when making all over the same distance on June 13th.

The 6.50 selection dropped to provincial level racing when contesting a Class 5 handicap over 1000m that day.

While the extra 100m here is a slight concern, Jim Taylor's gelding arrives here in good form and with the wet track no issue he looks capable of registering his fifth win at this track.

Scopri suits for Bendigo glory

The second race of the day at Bendigo is a 1300m fillies maiden set to take place on a soft 5 surface.

Ben, JD & Will Hayes send out SCOPRI here, with the youngster having demonstrated good form earlier this year.

The 3.20 pick's four efforts in her first prep included three fourth-place finishes and a good second when contesting a 1612m at Benalla at the end of January.

The three-year-old was spelled having stayed on nicely from off the pace when beaten less than one-and-a-half-lengths over 1600m at Werribee the following month.

The daughter of So You Think prepped for this with a half-length success in a 950m barrier trial at Traralgon earlier this month and she looks capable of breaking her maiden.
