Semillion to take Sprint

The previously mentioned Group race is the Group 3 Bletchingly Sprint, a 1200m contest set to take place as the seventh race on the Caulfield card.

Ciaron Maher's four-year-old Recommendation placed at a higher level when third in the Group 2 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley earlier this season.

Two sixth-place finishes followed prior to the gelding being spelled by connections.

The son of Shalaa delivered a wide margin seven-length success in the 1100m Sir John Monash Stakes on his return to action here two weeks ago.

However, that effort came on a soft 7 track and SEMILLION may prove capable of springing an upset on the good 4 surface expected here.

The gelding registered a Listed win in the Takeover Target Stakes, held on a heavy 9 track at Newcastle three starts back.

Semillion is equally at home on a sound surface, however, and was beaten less than two lengths when fifth in a Listed 1200m event at Flemington on 6th July.

The four-year-old, trained by Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes, should have no problems jumping from barrier six and he is selected to upset the favourite with Jordan Childs up.

Shezanalister to complete Randwick double

The seventh race of the day at Randwick is an 1100m Benchmark 88 handicap contest.

A soft 6 track is expected with Bubba's Bay expected to have her supporters, having demonstrated good form in Brisbane earlier this year.

The filly registered a length third in a 1200m Benchmark 78 handicap in February prior to rattling off a hat-trick of wins in sprint contests.

Two of those wins came at Eagle Farm including by a narrow margin in a Class 6 handicap held on a soft 6 track in early April.

While the four-year-old has trialled well for this contest, she looks opposable with preference for Bjorn Baker's SHEZANALISTER.

The pick won three times in her last prep including by a narrow margin in a 1200m Benchmark 78 handicap held on a soft 5 surface here in February.

The daughter of Star Turn was spelled following a below par effort over 1100m at Rosehill two weeks later, however.

While the filly's second trial at Randwick ahead of her return saw her finish only fourth, she resumed with a victory at the same venue earlier this month.

The selection won by just under half-a-length when contesting an 1100m Benchmark 78 handicap held on a heavy 8 track on that occasion.

Tommy Berry's mount missed the break last time but she has a good barrier next to the rail and is selected to complete a double.

Prince to rule at Morphettville

The Richard & Chantelle Jolly team are set to saddle HARD PRINCE in the seventh race of the day at Morphettville.

This race in question is a 1600m Benchmark 68 handicap expected to be held on a soft 7 surface.

The three-year-old is a dual winner this prep, having broken his maiden when contesting a 1350m event on a good 4 track at Strathalbyn at the end of April.

Hard Prince has performed well at this venue subsequently when a close second in a 1540m Benchmark 68 handicap on a soft 6 track on his penultimate outing.

The selection went on to record the second win of his career when successful by a narrow margin in a 1500m Benchmark 68 handicap at Gawler.

Jake Toeroek's mount has a rail barrier here and, with the extra distance unlikely to pose an issue, he looks up to registering the third win of his career.
