The Queenslander has had some solid results throughout his career, including a third-place finish at the Vuelta a Espana in 2021.

But in the main, Haig has had to live in the shadow of other Australian general classification riders, including Jai Hindley and Ben O'Connor.

Even so the 30-year-old is key to Team Bahrain Victorious and will have a big role to play at the 2024 Tour de France.

Here is everything you need to know about Jack Haig.

. Name: Jack Haig
. Date of birth: 6th September, 1993
. Place of birth: QueenslandAustralia
. Current team: Team Bahrain Victorious
. Odds: 751.00 to win the Tour de France

Professional career so far

Haig started out racing mountain bikes early in his career but made the switch to road cycling and landed his first big contract with Australian team Orica-GreenEDGE.

Haig stayed with Orica from 2016 to 2020 and enjoyed some success when picking up his first professional win in 2017.

That year he finished third overall at the Tour of Slovenia and eighth at the Tour de Pologne. It was in Poland were he earned his first win, taking out Stage 6.

While racing with Orica, Haig also just missed out on the podium at Paris-Nice in 2019 when finishing fourth.

Haig made the switch to Bahrain Victorious in 2021 and has put in some consistent performances in big one-week stage races over the last few years.

The Criterium du Dauphine, which is seen as the ideal lead-up to the Tour de France, has been one of Haig's favourite races.

He has finished fifth in each of the last three seasons, while he has also been a regular in the top 10 at Paris-Nice.

Without doubt through, Haig's biggest success was at the Vuelta in 2021 when he managed to make it to the podium, finishing third overall.

Following a disappointing 2023, Haig has returned to some good form and will be part Team Bahrain Victorious at the 2024 Tour de France.

What does the future hold for Jack Haig?

Haig is under contract with Team Bahrain Victorious until the end of 2025 and still has a big role to play for them.

He performed well at the 2024 Criterium du Dauphine when finishing 16th in the general classification, so is in good shape head to the Tour.

Bahrain Victorious will have a strong team at the Tour, but Haig will be riding in support of team leader Santiago Buitrago.

The best that Bahrain can hope for at the Tour de France will be a top 10 in the general classification and some stage wins along the way.

Buitrago is 401.00 to win the Tour de France, while teammate Pello Bilbao is available at 201.00.

Haig, who is priced at 751.00, will be hoping he gets the chance to go for a stage win at some point in the tour.

Bahrain have a number of riders who have won stages at the Tour de France, including Bilbao, Fred Wright, Matej Mohoric and Wout Poels.

Haig is up there with them and will be out to shine in the biggest bike race on the planet.
