Press for Tamworth glory

The fifth race of the day at Tamworth is a 1200m Class 1 handicap set to take place on a soft 6 track.

Cool Man is expected to have his supporters having made the perfect start to his racing career when debuting with a win at Murwillumbah last month.

The three-year-old overcame an awkward start to get home by a narrow margin when contesting a 1010m maiden held on a heavy 8 track that day.

The youngster jumped from an inside alley that day and with a wide barrier here he looks opposable with preference for OFF THE PRESS.

The gelding gained plenty of experience in barrier trials prior to making his debut in a 1000m maiden at this track in December.

The selection was beaten just over a length into third having raced close to the speed on a soft 5 track that day.

Cody Morgan's representative duly broke his maiden at the second attempt when delivering a victory in an 1100m maiden at Gilgandra the following month.

The pick was spelled following that effort and he failed to shine in two barrier trials prior to finishing eighth at Scone when racing first up this prep.

The son of Press Statement was beaten just under two-and-a-half-lengths in that event and he is expected to have improved for the run.

Braith Nock's mount steps up in distance here and jumping from barrier six he is take to double his career tally.

Henry to salute at Ipswich

The penultimate race on Ipswich's card is an 1100m Class 1 set weights plate contest.

A heavy 8 track is expected for the race with Great Barrier Reef set to feature prominently in the market on his first start since August.

The gelding was beaten just over three lengths when fifth in a 1200m Benchmark 65 handicap at Doomben on his most recent start.

Prior to that the four-year-old had failed to shine when down the field over the same distance at Eagle Farm.

While the son of I Am Invincible has gone well first up in the past he has a wide barrier to contend with here and it can pay to look elsewhere for the winner.

Tony Gerogieff is set to saddle THANKYOU HENRY in this contest with the three-year-old having demonstrated ability when debuting in May.

The selection was beaten over three lengths having raced close to the speed in a nine runner 1000m contest at Sunshine Coast on that occasion.

The gelding went one better over the same track and trip when making all the running on a soft 5 surface on his only subsequent start.

The pick jumped from an inside alley on that occasion and having been allocated barrier four here he looks capable of completing a double.

Vegas for Goulburn victory

The sixth race at Goulburn is a Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place on a soft 6 track over 1000m.

PRETTY VEGAS demonstrated good form when three-and-a-half-lengths third in a 1000m Benchmark 58 handicap at Wagga at the end of May.

The pick was racing first up on that occasion and she can be forgiven a disappointing effort when sixth in a 1080m Class 2 handicap next time.

That sixth came at Canberra Acton with the selection fading having raced prominently that day.

Trainer Joe Cleary has his stable in good form currently with the handler boasting a 33% strike-rate (4/12) with his runners in the last 30 days.

Olivia Dalton is set to ride the daughter of Exosphere for the first time here and her mount looks up to recording her third career win.
