3 minute read

Sydney Roosters will look to keep the pressure on at the top of the NRL ladder when they entertain the Dragons, but will have to do it without Joseph Manu.

The Roosters sit in fourth spot but are just one win away from Penrith Panthers, who occupy second place.

Trent Robinson's side have set their sights on winning the premiership this season and can be backed at 4.50 to go all the way and win the grand final.

Next up is a clash with the much-improved Dragons, who are gunning for a place in the top eight come the end of the season.

Talking of the top eight, Canberra Raiders and Newcastle Knights are also desperate to force their way in there, so Sunday's clash is massive.

They both sit on 18 points, two points away from the top eight, with games fast running out.

 Roosters hit by Manu blow

. What: Sydney Roosters v St George/Illawarra Dragons

The Sydney Roosters are flying, but it is not all good news after star centre Joey Manu suffered a fractured hand in the 40-6 win over Wests Tigers.

Manu will be a big loss, but the Bondi outfit have a strong squad and Michael Jennings will step in to help fill the void.

The Roosters have a great record against the Dragons, winning 10 of the last 12 games, and are priced at 1.85 to win this latest meeting by 13+ points.

Dominic Young continues to shine and the winger has 10 tries in his last eight games. The Englishman is 5.00 to score the first try of the game.

The Dragons are out for revenge after being smashed 60-18 in the ANZAC Day clash back in Round 8, and have responded well.

They have won four from seven games since that defeat, with Zac Lomax scoring five tries in the last four games.

The New South Wales State of Origin star is 1.95 to score another at anytime during the game.

 Ponga back to boost Knights

. What: Canberra Raiders v Newcastle Knights
. Where: GIO Stadium, Canberra
. When: 16:05 (AEST), Sunday 7th July 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel, Channel 9

The Knights have been handed a massive boost with the news that Kalyn Ponga returns to side for the first time since Round 7.

The gun fullback has been named to start the game and can be backed at 1.95 to score a try at anytime.

Newcastle were boosted by an impressive eight-point win over Parramatta Eels last week, and can be backed at 3.40 to beat the Raiders by 1-12 points.

The Raiders showed plenty of fight against the Storm before slipping to a 10-point defeat, and will be keen to bounce back on home soil.

Kaeo Weekes has four tries in his last five games and is 2.80 to score at anytime.
