The men's competition in the French capital will take place from 24th July to the 30th July, with all games taking place at the Stade de France.

Here's everything you need to know about Australia's group, their fixtures and the Aussies' odds of going all the way to claim the gold medal in Paris.

Australia and Argentina to battle for supremacy

Looking to secure one of the top two places to reach the quarter-finals, Australia find themselves in Group B alongside one of the tournament favourites Argentina.

Group B also contains Samoa and Kenya who will be looking to cause an upset against the Aussies and the Argentines to seal their place in the last eight of the competition.

Australia will kick-start their Group B campaign against Samoa on Wednesday, with kick-off at 23:30 (AEST).

Head coach John Manenti is 1.071 to see his Australia side make a winning start, while the Samoans are available at 9.00 to cause an upset. A tie on the day is currently 21.00.

Creeping into the early hours of Thursday, Australia are next in action against Kenya, before the highly-anticipated showdown with Argentina at 20:30 (AEST) on same day.

A top-two finish in Group B will guarantee Australia a place in the quarter-finals, while the two best third-place finishers from across the three groups will also reach the knockout stage of the competition.

Australia Men's Squad

With just two players in the squad in their 30s, this is one of the younger teams taking part in the competition.

A squad consisting of 12 players, Mark Nawaqanitawase is one of the big names set to feature before moving on to the NRL.

The rest of the squad includes Wallabies and Brumbies wing Corey Toole, along with Henry Hutchinson, Ben Dowling, Matthew Gonzalez, Nick Malouf, Henry Paterson, Maurice Longbottom, Hayden Sargeant, Nathan Lawson, James Turner and Dietrich Roache.

Men's Olympic Rugby Sevens Odds

In the men's competition it's not surprising the hosts France, with the world-class Antoine Dupont their star man, are the favourites to claim the gold medal at 2.75, while Argentina have emerged as the second favourites at 4.00.

As for Australia's chances, Manenti's side are available at 13.00 to win the competition on French soil, while rivals New Zealand will always be there or thereabouts when it comes to Sevens contests and are 4.50 to take the gold medal

Likewise Fiji, who boast some of the most explosive and creative Sevens players on the planet, are also expected to be in the mix and are 6.00 to be crowned champions.
