Some set for Wyong success
The sixth race on the Wyong card is a 1000m Benchmark 64 handicap with Oceans One expected to prove popular with punters.
The six-year-old has registered placed efforts in two of his four starts this prep, with the first of those coming when narrowly beaten over this trip at Kembla Grange in June.
The gelding contested a Benchmark 68 handicap that day and went on to finish third when beaten just over three lengths over 1100m at Canterbury.
David Pfieffer's representative arrives here on the back of a sixth of seven over 1100m on the Kensington track at Randwick last month.
Zac Waddick's mount contested a Benchmark 72 handicap that day and the drop in grade is in his favour here.
However, the consistent LEAVE ME SOME is the pick to end a long losing run, having been narrowly beaten at Tamworth last time.
The selection placed second when contesting a Benchmark 82 handicap held on a soft 5 surface that day and she is expected to tackle similar underfoot conditions here.
While the 5.50 pick had disappointed when sixth prior to that, she has finished in the first three in four of her last six starts and any softening of the going would be no issue.
Ashley Morgan's mount has an inside barrier for this event while she is a previous course winner having saluted over 1200m here in January 2022.
Amigos to salute at Sandown
Sandown stage a metro meeting, with the fifth race of the day a 1400m Benchmark 64 handicap.
A soft 6 track is expected, with Hughes expected to jump as favourite on the back of a good third over this track and trip last month.
The five-year-old was beaten just over a length when contesting a Benchmark 70 handicap on a heavy 9 track that day and he gets a drop in grade here.
Prior to that the gelding had finished a decent five-lengths sixth when racing over the same distance at Benchmark 72 level at Rosehill at the end of June.
Blake Shinn will have to negotiate a wide barrier if he is to take this contest, however, with preference for HOLA AMIGOS for the Wendy Kelly stable.
The gelding saluted by over one-and-a-half-lengths when racing over 1200m in a Restricted 64 handicap at Pakenham three starts back.
The 4.20 selection raced on a soft 7 track that day and has since placed fourth twice on soft 6 surfaces on the Hillside course at this venue.
Both of those efforts saw him beaten two-and-a-half-lengths in Benchmark 70 handicap events held over 1300m and he looks ready for a return to this distance.
Ben Allen's mount is a versatile type with regard to tactics and he is the pick to record the third win of his career.
Importance to register hat-trick
Andrew Dale saddles MORE IMPORTANCE in the sixth race on the Wodonga card.
The race in question is an 1100m Benchmark 58 handicap due to take place on a heavy 8 track.
The son of Spieth has performed well without winning on heavy surfaces in the past and has been in great form since having blinkers reapplied this prep.
The five-year-old has won both starts this time around, including when resuming with a length victory in a 1000m Class 1 handicap at Corowa at the start of last month.
The 5.50 selection jumped at $61 that day but proved that effort was no fluke when saluting in an 1100m Restricted 58 handicap on a soft 5 track at Wangaratta five days later.
