As expected, top-weight and favourite Redzel proved much too good, asserting his authority over the final 100m to add win 13 to his 26 race career. Rider Kerrin McEvoy kept him out of trouble throughout, sat a half length outside the leader (Invincible Star), eased alongside past the 200m then, with apparent ease, cruised clear by a much easier-thanit-looked to score by a length at the line. Kaepernick sat third (rails) into the straight, had to ease away from behind the pacemaker for a run and kept on well for second yet no danger to the winner in a noted return to form. Invincible Star led into the straight, tried to hold the winner at the 200m and then held on to take third placing in a sound first-up run from Boss Lane who battled away really well for fourth.
