An easy winner here two weeks back, Freo jumped to stakes class for the first time and got the win, his fourth from 13 starts. He was slow into stride but gradually improved along the fence to pick up a few places. He crept a little closer from the 600m and nearing the last corner rider Shaun McGruddy kept hold of the left rein so as to hug the fence into the straight. He shot through at the 200m, made the lead at the 100m then had enough to hold on by a half length at the post. Cappo D'Oro sat a distant fifth at the 600m, was battling once into the straight, balanced then accelerated between runners to flash into second. Taxagano was ast into the straight, tracked the winner along the fence then finished strongly late to grab third. Wrinkly led them in, was claimed at the 100m and fought well to hold fourth.
