In a Chris Waller-trained trifecta Mister Sea Wolf scored a good first-up win. Having his first start since racing in WA late last year, he settled in fourth place (one out and one back). He moved up nicely rounding the home turn, hit the front at the 200m and then fought back well under his top weight (59kg) to score a good win, albeit by a head. His stablemate Abdon raced in fifth place, on the rails, got through on the inner to be in a challenging position at the 300m and then kept battling gamely for a close second at his second run this preparation while Tom Melbourne had a good trip in third place, challenged at the 300m and then battled on for yet another placing in taking third while the favourite Mask Of Time led the field until reaching the 300m and then held on for (2.5 lengths) fourth.
