ROSEHILL September 14

Good 4; Rail Out 5 Metres

Best Bets

RACE 3 (7) UNUSUAL LEGACY: This imposing individual has won four of his seven starts up to 1900m and has the makings of a Group performer. You couldn't miss his big frame charging home for an impressive third when resuming over 1500m at this course on August 31 and despite a rise in class he is ideally placed over this trip second up. History can repeat as he won second up over 1700m in his last prep after a first-up placing over 1500m at Rosehill.

RACE 7 (11) LADY SHENANDOAH: A maiden filly taking on a good G3 field first-up is not ideal but there is something special about this Waller-trained daughter of Snitzel. Showed big potential in her two placings last season on wet tracks, jumping straight from a debut third in a midweek maiden at Warwick Farm to finish second to a classy prospect in a Listed race over 1200m at Doomben. Her recent hard held trial when she surged through the line on a good surface was a beauty and points to her being ready to compete first-up from a soft draw.

RACE 10 (14) BLANC DE BLANC: Had been trialling well so it was no surprise to see her resume with an impressive second to the rising star Briasa over this course and distance on August 31. While she rises in class she is well placed to improve off that effort as she is sure to appreciate a 5kg drop in weight and will enjoy a cosy run from the rails draw in a race packed with speed that should give her the last run at them.

Why They Can Win….

RACE 1: (10) MONTE KATE – Short of condition first-up. Set to improve from rails draw with 3kg less.

RACE 2: (18) EVERIDO – Talented improver from top Canberra stable. Luckless when resuming.

RACE 4: (9) KUREDER – Fit stayer with strong 2400m form. Weights in his favour this time.

RACE 5: (3) CADETSHIP – Has found career best form. Rates highly from good draw with a 3kg claim.

RACE 6: (3) JOLIESTAR – Superb when resuming. A 3kg increase shouldn't stop her against her own sex.

RACE 8: (2) STORM BOY – Classy San Domenico win. Can only improve off that effort.

RACE 9: (8) PUNCH LANE – Good trials have him ready to progress from his excellent winter carnival form.

TRIAL POINTERS

ROSEHILL September 5: There was a lot of interest in the first Sydney trial of BUSTLING, the boom three-year-old from Perth. Transferred to Mick Price and Michael Kent for his spring prep, he's already been locked into an Everest start after winning four of his first five starts in Perth over just eight weeks in March and April. The Frosted gelding finished second in a trial at Casterton last month before his switch to Sydney and he didn't disappoint with an efficient all the way win in his 900m heat, working well within himself to beat the classy mare MAKARENA in good time for the session (54.10; 33.87). Epsom Handicap winner REDIENER – an easy second in his 900m heat - was another Group performers responsible for pleasing trials. ZOUBABY is a maiden heat winner with good prospects.

RANDWICK August 30: There were two black type trials on the course proper over 900m with former Kiwi mare BELCLARE producing another good trial win for Bjorn Baker in the faster time (53.20; 33.10). She led her heat and looks ready to sprint well fresh. In the same heat there was a lot to like about the easy third by SUNSHINE IN PARIS in her first trial since her setback last season. CELESTIAL LEGEND was under pressure to finish fourth in his heat and seems to be lacking speed in his early trials. BASES LOADED has had his issues but this classy 4YO is set for a bold return after running away with the fastest A grass heat over 1045m (61.30; 33.47) by more than six lengths. He took off at the 600m and kept running in his second trial since he won a G3 over 1600m at Eagle Farm in June with similar tactics. Classy Pierata colt FEARLESS always looked like he would be better as a 3YO and an impressive win in his 1045m heat (62.58; 33.79) in his first trial since his G1 placing in the Champagne Stakes augers well for his spring prospects. Tracked the pace before letting down with an impressive sprint to the line. HIGH OCTANE showed the benefit of his first-up third in the Rosebud at Rosehill to power away with his 1045m heat by almost six lengths (62.84; 33.46). He was eager to run with Tommy Berry keeping him under a tight hold from start to finish.

WARWICK FARM August 27: The classy mare TIZ INVINCINBLE did a good job to get the better of the leader ROYAL MERCHANT and win her black type trial over 821m on the inside grass (49.00; 34.13).

HAWKESBURY August 26: Group winner TRAFFIC WARDEN showed his class to win his heat over 1000m.

ROSEHILL August 20: Quality runners to lay down nice markers for the spring with strong trials included MAKARENA.

RANDWICK August 19: Heavy conditions for four black type heats on the Kensington. In Heat 2 (850m) seasoned 7YO mare BELCLARE, a multiple G1 and G2 winner in NZ, did all that was required to win (51.38; 33.74) in her first trial since March. In Heat 3 (850m) Doncaster winner CELESTIAL LEGEND looked uncomfortable in the heavy going finishing fourth and is sure to benefit from this first-up trial. A nice effort from the untapped LINEBACKER to finish third. Heat winners on the A grass to make an impression included ANODE and COLOPHON.
