RANDWICK MULTI

RACE 6 (3) NORTH PACIFIC: If he's the horse I think he is this race should see him make a successful start to a campaign that can lead to a G1 win. There is top class form around him in all his five appearances, not the least his last start G1 Golden Rose (1400m) second at Rosehill in September when he was stiff to be beaten only a head by his crack stablemate Ole Kirk. He's been fitted by two solid trials and a favourable draw sets him up to repeat his first-up win over 1100m at the start of his last prep before he won the G3 Up and Coming Stakes over 1300m at this course.

RACE 7 (1) OLE KIRK: A first-up win by the Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas winner will top what looms as a big day for the Hawkes camp. The decision to delay his return by a week for better track conditions has played out as the stable hoped, supported by the fact that he is better placed meeting his own age group under favourable set weight conditions. His fresh form is excellent and with speed across the board in this field he should get the pace to suit after looking very strong in his recent trial.

RACE 8 (8) ALL TIME LEGEND: This rising talent is well placed to make up for his last start third under 59kg in a BM88 over this course and distance when he was a tragedy beaten after being badly held up at the crucial stage. That was his first loss in four outings on his home track and he is sure to benefit from that run over the trip. He has the tactical speed to exploit a massive 6kg drop in weight that gives him a clear ratings edge on his rivals.

TRIAL POINTERS

WARWICK FARM February 1: The exciting filly WRITTEN BEAUTY is a genuine G1 prospect for the Hawkes stable. She looked all class driving clear of her rivals to lead at her leisure, doing it easily to win by 3.8 lengths in solid time (53.58; 34.65).

ROSEHILL January 27: PELTZER was too classy for his rivals in his 1030m open heat (63.34; 35.01), leading easily and having plenty in the locker on the line. There was plenty of talent on display in the 2YO trials over 896m with the exciting Melbourne colt PROFITEEER running up to his reputation with a dominant win in the fastest heat for the age group (53.03; 33.82). Another 2YO heat winner to make an impression was NASDAQ DUBAI (54.19; 34.35), a sharp type who kidded to his rivals over the last 400m under a cheeky ride. The fastest 896m heat winner was the low flying MALKOVICH (52.45; 33.02), no surprise as he is a genuine short course specialist. Classy stablemates GREYWORM (54.50; 34.20) and NORTH PACIFIC (54.55; 34.41) had to work to win their heats in much slower times but are obviously in good shape for the start of their campaigns.

RANDWICK January 21: Course proper trials over 900m for the Group horses saw PRAGUE turn in a big eye catcher getting home strongly from the rear for second in the heat won by Mizzy. One of the better wins in the heats over 1050m on the A Grass came from FASHCHANEL (63.71; 34.89) while the noted placegetters included TOMMY GOLD.

GOSFORD January 19: The Grant Allard-trained maiden BRIGHT EYED GIRL was a professional winner of her 800m heat in 48.86 (35.26) to equal the time run by Wellington Boot winner ZEFTABROOK (48.86; 35.00) in the fastest open heat over the trip. The Snowdens won an 800m 2YO heat with a nice colt OBLIVION (49.19; 35.74) and would have been pleased with the strong placing CONSTRUCT.

ROSEHILL January 15: The heats over 1030m and 900m on the inside grass featured some big names, principally from the Hawkes stable. Caulfield Guineas winner OLE KIRK did his best work late in his 900m heat, finishing fourth almost six lengths from his free running stablemate GREYWORM (54.21; 34.29). Crack Group winner PELTZER had an easy time finishing a hard held fourth in his 900m heat for the three-year-old males.
