TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK May 1: An impressive piece of work by lightly raced 3YO MARTIAL MUSIC to win his open heat over 737m against some well performed rivals in fast time (42.85; 33.87). Was keen to run and easily maintained a good margin over the chasers with plenty in hand.

ROSEHILL April 11: There has always been a rap for Flying Artie 4YO ANG POW with this trial indicating that he can add to his good record of five wins from nine starts. Having his first outing since back to back wins at Newcastle and Eagle Farm in October, he settled off the pace in his 900m heat (54.52; 34.31) before making ground smoothly from fifth on the turn to finish a soft third behind smart pair Written Beauty and VOWMASTER. His nice surge through the line under a good hold was the effort that took the eye. Turned in another strong trial when third at Rosehill on April 28.

GOSFORD March 24: Strong return trial by promising American Pharoah 3YO FLAG OF HONOUR. He won his first two starts on slow and heavy tracks so it wasn't surprising he handled these conditions confidently, always travelling well within himself in his 1000m heat (62.17; 37.35) and going to the line easily under a soft ride. He took on three black type races in the early spring, a fair indication of the opinion held of him by his stable.
