Lagom lands Kisaragi Sho
The Takashi Saito-trained Lagom (3 c ex Sugar Shock by Candy Ride) proved too strong for his rivals when he landed the Kisaragi Sho (Gr 3, 2000m) at Chukyo on Sunday and in the process handed his sire Orfevre (Stay Gold) his 13th stakes winner.
Listed-placed as a juvenile, Lagom was making his three-year-old debut and he defeated Yoho Lake (Deep Impact) by a neck, while Land Of Liberty (Deep Impact) was a further three and a half lengths away in third.
Purchased by Masamichi Hayashi for ¥47,000,000 ($580,914) at the 2019 JRA Select Yearling and Foal Sale, the colt is one of two winners out of Grade 3-winning Candy Ride (Ride The Rails) mare Sugar Shock.
The colt’s third dam is Grade 3 winner Unbridled House (Unbridled) and she is herself the grandam of fellow Grade 3 winner Andriette (Deep Impact).
Orfevre resides at Shadai Stallion Station and his progeny is headed by Grade 1-winning pair Lucky Lilac and Epoca d’Oro.
The Orfevre train continues:
