Readily Availabull wins Magic Millions Clockwise Classic at Ballarat
The John Sargent-trained Readily Availabull (2 c Bull Point - Readily by More Than Ready) booked his place into the field for January’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) with an impressive winner in Saturday’s Magic Millions 2YO Clockwise Classic (1000m) at Ballarat.
The son of Bull Point (Fastnet Rock) was making his debut having won his second trial at Rosehill on November 12 and he beat Prince Amongst Men - who is by Newgate Farm’s first-season sire Winning Rupert (Written Tycoon) - by neck, while Rambeau (Brazen Beau) was another head away in third.
The win was celebrated by a large all female ownership group who will be vying for the $500,000 Magic Millions Racing Women Bonus as part of the $2 million Classic in January.
“It’s a fantastic result,” Sargent said. “I bought this horse down in Tasmania.
“I got him for $25,000. I used to buy there quite a while ago and hadn’t been for a few years but went back for the last sale and thought he was a lovely colt.
“I bought him for a ladies syndicate. My wife, daughter and a lot of friends are in there and I’m sure they’re thrilled with the win.
“The win has qualified him for the (2YO Classic) race. I was looking at going to Wyong, but we won’t have to go there now.
“We might now trial him and go straight to the Gold Coast.
“He’s done his job at the moment. He will come back from Melbourne tomorrow night to my Randwick stables and I will check him out and he can have a nice ten days off.”
Purchased by his trainer and Mitchell Bloodstock for $25,000 from Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale from the Armidale Stud draft, Readily Availabull is one of two winners out of two time-winning More Than Ready (Southern Halo) mare Readily.
The colt hails from the same family as Listed-winning trio Los Verdes (Perisan Bold), Primas Agere (Hamas) and Nord’s Lucy (Nordico), who in turn produced Group 2 scorer Nordhal (Halling) and Onice Nero (Primo Dominie).
Second season sire stallion Bull Point has sired nine winners and he stands at Kingstar Farm for a fee of $8,800 (inc GST).
