Gelding becomes stakes winner number two for Kuroshio
Former Darley Stud-based sire Kuroshio (Exceed And Excel) sired his second stakes winner as Savatoxl (5 g ex Li'l Miss Hayley by Savabeel) broke his stakes duck in the Christmas Handicap (Listed, 1200m) at Morphettville on Saturday.
The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained five-year-old showed a good attitude to beat Music Addition (Your Song) by a quarter of a length, while Too Good Too Hard (All Too Hard) was another length and a quarter away in third.
The gelding was purchased by Alice Springs Turf Club for $8,000 at the 2017 Inglis VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale from the Stonehouse Thoroughbreds draft and he is out of the placed Savabeel (Zabeel) mare Li'l Miss Hayley, who has produced two other winners.
Li'l Miss Hayley herself is a half-sister to the dam of Group 3-winning pair Art Beat (Captain Rio) and Perfect Start (Perfectly Ready).
In 2019 Li'l Miss Hayley produced a filly by Needs Further (Encosta De Lago) and she was covered by the same stallion last season.
Savatoxl joins Group 3 winner Kurious stands at Compas Equine’s Starfield Stud, where his fee in 2020 was advertised as €6,000.
