Some of the most valuable horseflesh in Australia is at risk with Yulong Stud a victim of the flooding that is affecting Victoria.

Much of the farm, which is located on the banks of the Goulburn River at Mangalore, near Nagambie, is under water, which prompted Yulong's chief operating officer Sam Fairgray on Friday morning issued a call out to any who may be able to assist them moving livestock.

"It's pretty dire," Fairgray said on RSN927. "Water is still flowing back into the farm, it's halfway across the property.

'We just ask anybody that's got a dinghy in the area with an outboard, if you've got a wetsuit, if you've got a life vest, if you could please bring it to Grenada Rd in Mangalore.

"The water has come halfway across the property, which is unbelievable, and the water is still rising."

Yulong is home to hundreds of mares and foals, plus stallions Written Tycoon, Tagaloa, Lucky Vega, Alabama Express and Grunt.

They were the biggest player on the broodmare sale circuit this year with purchases including Away Game for $4 million and Tofane for $3.1 million at this year's Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
