John Foote used Day 2 at this year's New Zealand Bloodstock Ready-To-Run Sale to buy for Hong Kong clients a two-year-old that has been described as being 'in a league of his own' by the man who also sold Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan.

The horse in question was a colt by Capitalist from the Sebring mare Sebrina who topped the sale after being knocked down to Foote for $625,000.

The colt, who breezed-up in 10.31 seconds, was sold by Regal Farm, whose principal Shane Crawford said was worthy of the lofty price tag.

"He's an awesome horse, I pretty much knew from Day 1 when I first put a leg over him that he was a little bit special," Crawford said.

"We've sold some good horses over the years, Mongolian Khan, the horse than sixth in the Melbourne Cup, Daqiansweet Junior, horses like that, but this horse is just in a league of his own.

"He's a sprinter. Very fast and powerful."

Regal Farm bought the Capitalist colt in partnership with Upper Bloodstock for $155,000 at this year's Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.

He inherited the mantle as the sale's banner lot from the Savabeel colt who sold to Andrew Forsman and Andrew Williams for $575,000 on Day 1.

Williams was back in action at the high end of Day 2, paying $550,000 for a Hellbent colt from the family of Amarelinha, Metal Bender and Keeper who was the third highest-priced lot of the sale.

The Hellbent colt is also off to Hong Kong, as is the $520,000 Justify colt who took to seven the number half-million-dollar-plus lots sold across the two days when knocked down to Morgan Carter.

After an $11.3m day to open proceedings, the sale gross rose to $24,391,500 shortly after the hammer fell on the second day's final lot with the average lifting from $124,5000 on Day 1 to $128,374 at the end of the Day 2.

The clearance rate also rose significantly on Day 2, up to 75 percent after closing Day 1 at 65 percent.
