Half-brother to last year’s Melbourne Cup winner to debut in France
Australian racing fans tonight have more reason than most to tune into a French race full of three-year-old debutants.
The 2000-metre Prix De Joinville that kicks off Friday's Chantilly card features a half-brother to a Melbourne Cup winner.
Got Land will become the latest to race from Sarvana, who is the dam of last year's Melbourne Cup hero Gold Trip.
Trained by Edouard Monfort, Got Land is a three-year-old son of Shalaa who will be having his first start at Chantilly.
He will become the fourth to race from Sarvana, a daughter of Dubai Destination, whose best to this point is Gold Trip, a son of Outstrip who was a Group 2 winner in France and ran fourth in the 2020 Arc de Triomphe prior to coming to Australia and won last year's Melbourne Cup (3200m) for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
Sarvana's only foal since Gold Trip to have got to the races is Gotha, a four-year-old son of Ultra who is yet to win in eight starts.
Got Land, who cost 60,000 Euros at the 2021 October Yearling Sale at Arqana, will be ridden by Theo Bachelot in the race that will be run at 8.40pm AEST.
