Son of first-season sire favourite for Debutant Stakes.
Coleman will not be the first product of Pierata to debut, but he will be the most anticipated to date when he contests Wednesday's Debutant Stakes at Caulfield.
The Matt Laurie-trained colt is favourite for the $175,000 Listed event over 1000 metres off the back of two impressive jumpouts.
In the first, over 650m at Mornington, he sat wide on the track but pulled away from his rivals in the home straight under little riding to win by around four lengths in 35.81 seconds.
He stretched out to 800m in the second, at Sandown, and was ridden was cover initially before peeling to the outside at the top of the straight and letting down nicely to reel in the leader and surge away late for a two-length win, again under light riding.
The anticipation around his first racetrack appearance mirrors when the youngster from the Redoute's Choice mare Sboog stepped into the Gold Coast sale ring at Magic Millions in January this year, when he sold for $550,000 to Laurie and bloodstock agent Justin Bahen.
That made him the third most expensive member of the son of Pierro, behind the $800,000 filly from multiple Group 1 winner Loving Gaby and the $650,000 colt out of Vincere Volare.
Coleman will become the third to race for Pierata, who had Fearless finish fourth in the Breeders' Plate at Randwick on September 30, while Rockrata finished down the track at Eagle Farm last Saturday.
Pierata initially stood at Aquis in Queensland but has since relocated to Victoria, where he stands at Yulong for $44,000.
He is not the only first-season sire represented in the Debutant Stakes with Arabian Summer, a $220,000 January Magic Millions buy, to become the first to race in Australia for Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot.
Swettenham Stud's I Am Immortal, a son of I Am Invincible, is also represented with Adja to become his second to race behind Immortal Joy, who contested the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes.
The most expensive youngster in the Debutant Stakes is Yulong's First Settler, a $750,000 Gold Coast yearling who is trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr.
