March Yearling Sale headline lot to take up residence alongside her older sister
Day 2 of Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale provided the two highest-priced lots of the offering, including a sister to Chinny Boom who sold for $230,000.
The daughter of Spirit Of Boom and Imanoremiss will soon take up residence alongside her sister, who has won eight of 13 and more than $500,000, after being knocked down to Rockhampton trainer Clinton Taylor.
"She was the real standout of the whole sale, I hadn't found anything to go close to her," Taylor said of the Eureka Stud-prepared filly.
"I know the family well and not just Chinny Boom. I also trained the sister, Holdin' My Own, who had tons of ability.
"Let's hope this filly can live up to her sisters and she can be as good as them."
Day 2's second top lot was also by Spirit Of Boom, a colt out of Show A Heart mare Kiss For Gran, the dam of Kisukano, who sold to Michael Nolan for $160,000.
The Spirit Of Boom pair finished the sale with honours as the highest-priced lots of either sex with opening day's $140,000 session-topping Better Than Ready colt rounding out the top three.
The clearance rate that was just 66.3 percent at the conclusion of Day 1 rose to 75 percent by the end of the sale, which pleased Magic Millions organisers.
The gross of $8,796,500 was down $1,262,000 on last year, when the average was $36,052. This year's average was $33,320, but the $28,000 median was up on last year's $26,000.
"These are the times we are in, these sales at the lower ends they are feeling the pinch a little bit," Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said.
"There's more of those horses in a sale like this so you do struggle a bit with your clearance rate.
"We will continue to work with our breeders going forward to make sure we continue to make this sale viable and give them reason to continue to invest and upgrade the stock they breed."
