In-foal mare with foal at foot sells for $150,000 on Inglis Digital
Bruce Durham is a relative newcomer to Inglis Digital, but the Durham Park operator was happy to splurge $150,000 on a three-in-one package that was the equal top lot of the March (Early) Online Sale.
Edward bought not only the Sebring mare Passionate Lass, a sister to Daisies and half-sister to Zou Tiger, but also the Brazen Beau foal she had last year and the one y the same Darley stallion she is now carrying.
They were just his second Inglis Digital purchases after buying Snitzel mare Slumber Party in-foal to Justify for $255,000 last year.
"It's a pretty good package, I thought," Edward said.
"The mare's good, it's a really good family, she's got a smart-looking foal walking alongside her and she's in foal again, so you can't ask for much more than that.
"I was really happy because I set my bidding limit and that was $150,000 which my final bid got her. I didn't have another bid in me.
"We'll wean the foal and make some decisions then about where we foal the mare down and what we do with her after that.''
Durham's package shared top honours with Written Tycoon three-year-old gelding Outsmarted, who has won both his starts for Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou.
Outsmarted was purchased by Chan Investments.
Hope At Hand sold for $95,000, Feel The Rush – in-foal to Farnan – went for $85,000 and Red Suture $60,000 with Godfather selling for $55,000.
A son of I Am Invincible, Godfather was a $1.1 million yearling purchase for James Harron and was bought on Wednesday by Brendan Nelson.
