Premiership-winning stallion earns another fee increase
Proisir's rise up Australasia's stallion ranks has continued this season and his custodians have announced a hike in stud fee for the 2024 breeding period.
The son of Choisir will this year stand at a fee of NZ$80,000, plus GST, at Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand, which is a rise of $10,000 on his 2023 fee.
He was one of three Rich Hill stallions who have earned fee increases for 2024, joining Satono Aladdin, who is up to $65,000 from $45,000 and Ace High ($10,000 to $15,000).
Proisir won last year's New Zealand stallion premiership and this year sits behind only the legendary Savabeel with just over three months of the season remaining.
The thirst for his progeny was highlighted at this year's Karaka Yearling Sale, where his filly out of Donna Marie – who is a sister to his flagbearer, Prowess – sold for a New Zealand filly record price of $1.6 million.
Along with Prowess, Proisir is the sire of four-time Group 1 winner Levante, Australian Guineas heroine Legarto and Group 1 winners Dark Destroyer, Pier and Waitak, who runs in Saturday's $5m The Quokka in Perth.
The increase marks an incredible rise to promise for the now-14-year-old, who started his stallion career at just $7000.
"Proisir's future looks particularly exciting with his bigger books and better pedigreed offspring to hit the sale-ring and racetracks over the next few seasons," Rich Hill's managing director John Thompson said.
Proisir headlines a five-strong roster at Rich Hill for 2024, which also includes Melbourne Cup winner Shocking, whose fee remains unchanged at $12,500, while Vadamos has had his fee reduced from $12,500 to $9000.
