Colt out of Slipper winner sells for almost $2m at Japanese sale
A colt out of Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign was one of the stars of the second day of the JHRA Select Sale in Japan when he sold for almost AU$2 million.
The foal by Japanese Derby winner Kizuna sold for ¥210,000,000, which is the equivalent of AU$1.93m.
He was bought by Hirosaki Toshihiro from Northern Farm, which purchased She Will Reign – a $20,000 yearling purchase – privately at the end of her racing career, which was highlighted by Group 1 wins in the Golden Slipper and Moir Stakes.
It was the third good result for Northern Farm with products of She Will Reign, a daughter of Manhattan Rain, whose first foal – a colt by Heart's Cry – sold for ¥165,000,000 (AU$1.51m) in 2021.
The colt is now named Danon Tornado and has been placed at Group 2 level, while last year she had a filly foal by Saturnalia sell for ¥220,000,000 (AU$2.02m).
He also has a three-year-old filly by Satono Diamond, named Diamond Rain, who won a maiden in May and a two-year-old colt by Real Steel.
