Coolmore Stud's first season sire Calyx (Kingman) got off the mark in Europe on Wednesday when Classic Flower (2 f ex Crown of Flowers by Garswood) won over 1100 metres at Salon-de-Provence in France. 

Having her first career start, Classic Flower, beat Aquila Volante (Gleneagles) by a half length). 

Bred by Retches Farm, Classic Flower is owned by Jean-Etienne Dubois and Hunter Valley Farms having been bought for 45,000gns at the 2021 Tattersalls December Foal Sale by bloodstock agent Arthur Hoyeau. 

Having stood for €22,500 during his first season at stud in 202, Calyx's 2023 fee is advertised at €10,000.
