Sold in foal to Hanseatic to top Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale
The Coolmore Stud consigned Tiz My View (Snitzel), offered in foal to Hanseatic (Street Boss), was the top lot to sell at Sunday's Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale when purchased by Team Lucky Vega.
Sold as Lot 679, the mare has produced one winner to date and is herself out of the Listed winning USA-bred mare Miss Tizzy (Cee's Tizzy).
Tiz My View was bought by Fionnuala Timoney for $15,000 at the Inglis Digital May Online Sale last year and was delighted with the result.
"It is unbelievable. It hasn't sunk in yet, I think I'm still in shock,'' Timoney said.
"Coming into this week anything over $100,000 I would have been delighted with, I think if she wasn't making $100,000 I would have kept her at home and foaled her down.
"It's unreal - I had my reserve at $80,000 so to have an opening bid of $120,000 was terrific and to end up where she did, I mean wow.''
The mare received a timely update since the catalogue was published with her juvenile daughter Bubble Palace (Rich Enuff) now the winner of her first two starts.
Team Lucky Vega was the leading buyer at the one day sale, spending $790,000 on five lots, representative Sam Fairgray added: "With Bubble Palace being by a son of Written Tycoon [in Rich Enuff], we bought her as a good physical for Written Tycoon.
"She was a fast two-year-old herself Tiz My View and hopefully Bubble Palace can go on and get black type, if not be a G1 horse and we can have a nice result with this mare moving forward.
"With Bubble Palace's potential in mind and honestly thinking she could be Group 1 potential – plus the fact Tiz My View was a lovely physical – we were happy to pay top dollar for her.''
Coolmore Stud finished the sale as the leading vendor having sold 16 of the 20 lots offered for $1,291,500 at an average of $80,719.
Two lots sold for $340,000, while a total of nine sold for $200,000 or more.
The first of the $340,000 lots to sell was Ariege (Exceed And Excel) who was bought by Paul Moroney and Catherine Bruggeman. Shortely afterward Interram (Snitzel) made that same price when bought by Leongatha Property Holdings.
Verna Metcalfe of Middlebrook Valley Lodge, who offered Ariege - in foal to Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) - on behalf of long-term clients Allan and Kate Gadsby, said the price was well above expectations.
"She's a nice mare but we didn't expect her to sell for that much. We put her on the market at $150,000 and I was rapt to get that price for her,'' Metcalfe said.
"The mare was originally entered in The Chairman's Sale but on the advice of the Inglis team we decided to go to this sale instead to be a standout and that's exactly how it's played out. So thanks to the Inglis team, they were on the money again. It was great advice.''
Newgate Farm's Henry Field, who sold Interram – in foal to Pierro (Lonhro), was equally impressed with the $340,000 price tag for the mare.
"She was a lovely mare in foal to Pierro and a good sort. It was a good strong price for her but it's been a great day of trade overall,'' Field said.
"It's been a very, very strong sale today and it was wonderful trade at the Chairman's on Friday night, too, so it just carries on from that."
