Madone (2 f Vancouver - Indian Love Call by Cherokee Love) maintained her unbeaten record at Santa Anita on Sunday when taking out the Surfer Girl Stakes (Listed, 8f) on the turf and the filly will now head towards the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (Gr 1, 8f) on November 6.

The Simon Callaghan-trained juvenile won on debut at Del Mar and then captured the Juvenile Fillies Turf (Listed, 8f) at the same track last month. She was sent out favourite on Sunday and settled back in the field before charging to the lead and then showed tenacity to hold off the late challenge of Tetragonal (Mehmas) by a neck. Pizzazz (War Front) was another three and a half lengths back in third.

"They went fast, which we thought could happen, so Flavien (Prat) just let her settle back early and let her get comfortable. He made a big move with her and thankfully she had enough to hold off the filly that was running at us," said Callaghan.

"She is professional, she has really grown up a lot," he said. "She took a little bit of time to come around, but she's really developing into a real professional."

A US$125,000 OBS Ocala Select 2YO Sale purchase earlier this year, Madone runs for Kaleem Shah and the daughter of Vancouver had been bought the year prior for US$50,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Madone is the fifth winner and the only stakes winner out of the Cherokee Run mare (Runaway Groom) Indian Love Call. Her second dam is Mood Music (Kingmambo) who produced three winners headed by Listed winner Allegre (Orientate), whilst further back this is the family of 2013 Man O'War Stakes (Gr 1, 11f) winner Boisterous (Distorted Humor).

Vancouver, whose first Australian-bred crop are now three, is standing this spring for a fee of $30,250 (inc GST).
