Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

1. Who is (are) your pick of the colts and why?
The first crop Palentino (Teofilo) colt (Lot 153) from the well related Evasive (One Cool Cat) is a very strong, forward, masculine type and looks very much like the 'old man'. He's powered through his prep too and having such a great temperament is a bonus.

2. Who is (are) your pick of the fillies and why? 
The Fastnet Rock (Danehill) filly (Lot 121) is an absolute standout among the girls. A real queen. What can you say? She's by Fastnet Rock and a half-sister to two-year-old stakes winner Veuvelicious (Northern Meteor), from a great family. She'll stop traffic this one.

3. Who do you feel has improved most over the prep? 
Exceed And Excel (Danehill) is flying at the moment and so too is his colt from Kassama (Lot 238) from a great European family. This guy is a late foal but he's absolutely thrived since starting his prep which is really encouraging as it augurs well for the next few months. He's going to grow into an outstanding horse.

4. How do you feel the 2020 sale will measure compared to previous renewals? 
Sun Stud is really quite excited about this year. Obviously this is our annual showpiece and we always field some really nice yearlings, but we're particularly buoyed this year with the introduction of the first Palentinos. He was a dual Group 1 winner, but the comments we've already had about his first crop youngsters is very encouraging. From an overall perspective, you would hope the Melbourne Premier continues the trend from the Gold Coast Magic Millions and the Inglis Sydney Classic – they were both strong and fingers crossed it's a similar result in Melbourne.

5. What is the thing you like most about the Premier Sale?
When it's finished! All jokes aside, a tremendous amount of work goes into the sale from all our team and, as the majority of yearlings were born and raised on farm, we've been with them every step of the way. The tension is pretty thick for ten days when you get to the complex, so we'll be looking forward to having a few beers with clients and buyers in our marquee when the last lot has gone through.
