Good Week For Fastnet Rock

3 minute read

Kingdom Of Dreams, a homebred for Teeley Assets, capped a big week for his sire Fastnet Rock with his win at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The 4YO Kingdom Of Dreams (Fastnet Rock x Unusual Choice, by Redoute’s Choice) completed a winning hat-trick for trainer Mark Kavanagh after wins at Cranbourne and Bendigo to give the champion sire four winners in four days.

A winner of six of his 13 starts, Kingdom of Dreams is one of two winners from Unusual Choice, a grand-daughter of stakes-winner Winged Prayer from the family of Tierce.

Unusual Choice foaled a colt by Fastnet Rock this spring.

On Friday night Fastnet Rock sired another smart winner at Cranbourne when the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained 3YO filly For Lulu (Fastnet Rock x Cats Whisker, by Fusaichi Pegasus ) won at her first run back from a long spell.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore was retained to race by her breeder Joy Jenkins.

A full sister to city winner This Cat Rocks, she is the second foal and second winner for Group winner Cats Whisker, who was also bred and raced by Jenkins.

Cat’s Whiisker won six races and nearly $600,000 prizemoney with highlight wins in the G2 Let’s Elope Stakes and G2 Rose Of Kingston Stakes.

A daughter of Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, Cats Whisker has been to Fastnet Rock each season since she retired and has a yearling colt by the champion sire entered for the Magic Millions in January.

She produced another filly by Fastnet Rock this spring.

Last Wednesday Fastnet Rock posted a winning double with maiden wins by blue-blooded fillies Romantic Time (Fastnet Rock x Shalt Not, by St Covet) and Pride Rock (Fastnet Rock x Pride Of Pine, by Lion Cavern) at Canterbury and Bendigo.

Romantic Time is a three-quarter sister to former star juvenile Amelia’s Dream while Pride Rock is a full sister to G1 winner

Romantic Time was bred and retained to race by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan of Cambridge Stud, who bought her dam Shalt Not for $1,050,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale after her ill-[fated daughter Amelia’s Dream won the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes by six lengths in record time.

Romantic Time is the eighth winner from eight to race from Shalt Not, a stakes-winning half-sister by St Covet to G1 winner Grand Zulu.

Bendigo winner Pride Rock was a $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase by Princeton Thoroughbred Stud and is a sister to G1 Goodwood Handicap winner Lone Rock being the third winner from Pride of Pine.

Fastnet Rock is currently leading the Australian sires premiership with over $4.6 million in progeny earnings and is the leading sire of three year-olds this season with 20 winners of $2.3 million headed by G1 winning fillies First Seal and Amicus.
