Mares carrying the genes of US super sire Mr Prospector are proving a profitable mix with boom Australian sire Written Tycoon.
Two of the best gallopers by Written Tycoon carry the genes of Mr Prospector close up maternally.
They are Capitalist, the champion Australian juvenile of 2015-16, and Howmuchdoyouloveme, a gelding whose nine wins include the G2 Caulfield Sprint, G3 WJ Healy Stakes and Listed Ramornie Handicap.Queensland bred Capitalist is from Kitalpha, a winning daughter of the shuttled Fusaichi Pegasus, the only Kentucky Derby winner by Mr Prospector.
Howmuchdoyouloveme is connected through his maternal grandsire Celtic Swing, a champion European 2YO and French Derby winner who visited Collingrove Stud in Victoria for three years from 1997 to 1999 where he sired champion sprinter Takeover Target.Damister, the Mr Prospector sire responsible for Celtic Swing, was a dual G2 winner in England and third in the English and Irish Derbys.
Another Written Tycoon winner featuring Mr Prospector maternally is Despatch, a colt who made a promising debut when he won the Magic Millions 2YO Clockwise Classic at Ballarat last Saturday.Sold as a weanling at the Gold Coast sales and later purchased by McEvoy Mitchell Racing for $195,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions, this youngster doubles up the mighty progenitor.
Despatch is the third winner produced by Zoccoletta, a mare by Fasliyev, a son of Nureyev and the Mr Prospector mare Mr.P’s Princess.Zoccoletta’s dam Vita won the G3 Fernhill Handicap and Listed TL Baillieu and her dam Penita was the champion older race mare in Argentina in 1989.
