Shuttle sire Iffraaj reached a milestone when he provided his first G1 quinella in last Friday’s Shadwell Fillies Mile at Newmarket.
The Charlie Hills-trained filly Chriselliam gave Iffraaj his third G1 winner and his second of the season when she beat the favourite and G1 winner Rizeena.
Chriselliam’s rise to G1 status has been swift with Friday’s win coming at her fifth start ..She broke her maiden status at just her second attempt and is held in high regard by her Hills.
No immediate plans have been made for Chriselliam however the filly has quickly entered into the order of betting for next year’s 1000 Guineas.
Rizeena will be sent to the paddock for a spell with her eight starts this season accumulating four wins including the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes, the G2 Queen Mary Stakes and the Listed National Stakes.
Iffraaj, standing in New Zealand, produced five stakes winners in his first crop including NZB Filly of the Year Fix.
He topped New Zealand’s Second Season Sire table and was less than $2000 from toppling champion sire O’Reilly on the General 3YO Sires List.
He was A record breaking sire in Europe with his first crop of two-year-olds in 2010 which included G1 winner Wootton Bassett and he is again at the top of the two-year-old sires table with seven stakes performing two-year-olds this season, including his two G1-winning fillies.
Chriselliam was purchased for 40,000 guineas by bloodstock agent Alastair Donald at the Tattersalls October sale while Rizeena cost h 50,000 guineas out of the same sale.
Her yearling half sister by Lope De Vega is catalogued in Book 1 of the forthcoming Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and Rizeena has her Rock Of Gibraltar half-brother catalogued in Book 2.
